A company that wants billions of people to scan their irises to create a global system of authentication, says that a global form of ID is coming “whether you like it or not.”
- Worldcoin was co-founded by Sam Altman, who is also the CEO of OpenAI, the company behind the controversial large language model ChatGPT.
- Previous investors in Worldcoin include disgraced Crypto kingpin Sam Bankman-Fried, founder of the collapsed cryptocurrency exchange FTX.
This new technology scans the irises of people around the world which is then used to grant access to the Worldcoin ecosystem, as well as a means of distinguishing between real people and bots.
- CEO of Worldcoin said recently that eventually anyone who wants to use the internet will need to be authenticated by Worldcoin or “something like it.”
