Two weeks ago, Hurricane Helene ravaged the states of Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. It became the second deadliest hurricane to hit the U.S. in the last 50 years, with a death toll surpassing 230 people with another 600 still missing. Property damage and economic losses are now estimated to be as high as $250 billion and threaten to surpass the $192.5 billion from Hurricane Katrina to become the costliest natural disaster in U.S. history.
